What is GBS?
Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is very rare inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. It is characterized by the rapid onset of weakness and, often, paralysis of the legs, arms, breathing muscles and face. GBS is the most common cause of rapidly acquired paralysis in the United States today, affecting one to two people in every 100,000.
The purpose of the Middlesex GBS CIDP Support Group, Inc. is to provide an atmosphere in which we can share our stories in an open environment for all survivors, friends, and families. We are here to learn, support one another, find ways to cope with and fight the battle of GBS.
