Most web analytics programs provide lots of detailed information about the geographic location of visitors to your website. Since most small businesses tend to have a specific geographic reach this information can be incredibly valuable.

State Details can include such information as the town each visitor is located in, how many pages that person visited, how long they were on the site and much more. If you are a small business owner, and don’t get your state details for your analytics then you are your own enemy of the state!

With this information you will be able to tell where your customers are coming from and more importantly where they are not coming from. In the markets you are already reaching perhaps you can adjust your marketing program to grow your customer base and brand awareness further. If there are areas where you don’t seem to be getting visitors to your site but thought you should, then you can be more aggressive with your marketing in that area.

As with all stats, they are open to  interpretation. Possessing the information is just step one. Analyzing that information and then taking action on it makes all the difference! If you aren’t sure what to do,  call your web and marketing professionals!
