I think my previous post should be required reading for all New Hampshire politicians. Social media strikes again. It has been reported by CNN that New Hampshire state legislator Timothy Horrigan resigned after making comments in a Facebook thread about the death of Ted Stevens with the comment “Well a dead Palin wd be even more dangerous than a live one…she is all about her myth & if she was dead she cldn’t commit any more gaffes,”
New Hampshire – live free or die. I get the sentiment. But freedom of speech does not mean freedom from speech, or freedom from consequences. So before engaging in social media – Think, think some more, think some more then wait a while.
Political discourse is a good thing and debate is a hallmark of what our nation was founded on, but if you are in business, what you say matters. Don’t lose business because your vocalization inhibitor is broken (that little mechanism in your brain that realizes what you are about to say is going to bite you in the ass and locks up your mouth).
